These classes give you many choices on time as well as duration of class. For those who like a longer class the Wednesday 11 to 3 is great. For those needing evening classes, the Tuesday class can be taken every week or every other week. Each artist decides the structure of their independent class and can work from whatever inspires them: their own sketches, photographs or imagination. Mediums include, but are not limited to painting, drawing and mixed media. All levels welcome.
This class will give you a wonderful chance to explore painting using many different techniques and tools such as palette knives and shapers, as well as really understand the purpose of all those cool brushes we all wish we had such as rigger, Asian calligraphy brushes, etc. Techniques to be addressed may include impasto, palette knife, seeing in shapes and forms, deductive painting, just to mention a few. Demos will be given regularly and then each student will be welcome to try these in a painting of their own choice. All levels welcome. Supplies not included.
“The journey truly is the destination when it comes to doing art.”
Classes focus on developing a technical toolbox of skills (shading, perspective, color theory, and composition, just to mention a few) with each child. While each class is not end-product minded, the children will be learning on a continual basis much like learning to do math, with a very definite progression. This method of learning over time, without pressure, creates a better work of art in the end. The children develop their eye and their own style.

Beth Kokol is a busy Tampa artist and owner of Kokol Art Studio and Gallery. Kokol not only creates her own works in a variety of mediums, but also teaches and nurtures budding artists at her gallery. She took some time out of her busy schedule to chat about her own work and the Tampa art scene in general.

These classes are designed to give children the chance to develop their imagination through age appropriate fun two and three dimensional projects. Projects will include modified clay, collage, drawing, acrylic, watercolor paints, and printmaking while also learning art history as many of the projects are related to the master artists of the past and present.
These classes are designed to develop technique as well as self-expression while using the same mediums as the younger classes. In this class the children will be offered a project that is based on Art history and or a technique.
These classes are independent study with the mediums of study being drawing and painting. The teens are encouraged to bring in ideas and thoughts on what they want to learn.
Welcome to my art studio that is conveniently located in South Tampa. I offer art lessons to adults that have never picked up a pencil to professionals looking to hone some skills, as well as children Pre-k through 12th grade. Whether it is weekly classes, field trips, adult out-of-town workshops or special workshops with visiting artists....one thing is for sure....there is always a lot going on in a fun and exciting environment.
I truly believe that creativity does not follow a clock and that every artist works at their own pace. In this crazy world, it is nice to know there is a place where there are no deadlines whether you are an adult or child. Every person is an artist in his or her own way. If given the time and the opportunity, art talent can be developed. Without a doubt you will learn and have fun. My goal is to teach art in a fun and creative atmosphere.
Beth was born and raised in Coral Gables, Florida, went to college at Florida State University and moved to Tampa in 1991. She has spent the better part of her life doing what she loves most: painting, teaching, and raising two children with her husband Bob. Her father, grandmother and cousins were all landscape and floral painters using oils, so her artistic passion came very naturally to her.
NEED YOUR OWN SPACE?
There are two shared studio spaces for rent that are available to students of the studio, including novices and professional working artists. Each renter has shelving space, an unlimited amount of time in the studio, as well as access to the patio for outdoor space.
